Gossip9.lk News : Former DIG Vaas Gunawardene’s son Ravindu Gunawardene has been arrested from a house at Kaduwela on suspicion of his involvement in the killing of Bambalapitiya businessman Mohammed Shyam say reports. He has also been named as a suspect in the student abduct case in 2009. Ravindu was a student at the same institution when the assault had taken place while his father Vaas was then a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP). It is alleged that the student was abducted at gunpoint in August 2009 and assaulted for several hours, over a personal feud, by Ravindu and a group of police officers. Ravindu was a student at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) when the assault had taken place.
