Health Minister Central Province, Sunil Kithsiri Amaratunga, has been arrested due to assaulting a doctor, the police spokesman Superintendent of Police said. Kandy Police arrested the Central Province Health Minister and produced before the court at 2012-july-04 for assaulting the Central Province Community Health Specialist Dr. Sapumal Danapala. Kandy Additional District Judge Mrs Augusta Perera have ordered to remand the Minister untill 6th of August. The doctors of the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) in the Central Province launched a strike demanding the immediate arrest of the Central Province Minister for regarding this.
