75MW more power from Upper kothmale hydropower Power Station | ඉහළ කොත්මලෙන් තව මෙගාවොට් 75ක්


The Upper Kotmale Dam (Upper Kotmale Hydropower Project) is the third largest hydroelectric dam in the Sri Lanka. It was completed the half of power generation of this hydroelectric power station at end of March 2012. The second 75MW power capacity will be added to Sri Lankan electrical power system tomorrow (2012 July 14).
The Project was carried out with the assistance of Japanese grant of Japanese yen 37,817million by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and Rs.8.548 million was funded by the Ceylon Electricity Board, The entire project covers an area of approximately 540 km2 (208 sq mi), and is developed in five phases.
